Marketing On Social Media – Be Social

My first tip for you about marketing on social media is you have to remember that social media is about one thing. It’s about social.

The best way to be social in social media is to be you, to be genuine, and to show up.

One of my clients recently asked me, “Should I tell people about politics or should I talk about politics on social media or should I share to them about things that I like or don’t like? How professional should I be?” There’s a fine line.

For me, I don’t share political stuff on social media, but I share causes that I’m excited about. Like trials and tribulations in my personal life or things happening for us in our business. All this stuff works because we want to endear people to us.

Maybe I had a rough day. I’ve been filming YouTube videos, and it’s been tough. I’m going to go on social media and say, “Whoa! I’ve been doing YouTube videos all day today. It’s been a struggle. Do you know what this is like?”

Marketing On Social Media – Share Things About Yourself

Another thing about me that endears a lot of people on social media is I grow up homeless as a child. It’s a very personal thing for me to share that the first eight years of my life were some of the hardest years of my life.

Inside social media, it’s important for people to connect with you to know who you are.

Go ahead and share things about yourself and personal things that are happening in the business. It’s up to you to find that fine line between too personal, TMI, but also being personable.

Marketing On Social Media – Share About Your Business

Here’s my second tip about marketing on social media.

We don’t want just to be purely vulnerable and talk about the foods we’re eating and the successes and struggles that we’re having in our personal life or our business. We also want to do a little bit of marketing, and this is where the marketing piece where I want you to get involved with it.

There are no hard facts about this, but we know that on television and radio, 10% is used to advertise.

With your social media, if you share a couple of stories about things that are going on at work, with your diet or nutrition, maybe you want to share a little bit about your business too.

There are very classy ways that we can do this.

You might say something like, “I had a successful day filming with YouTube and teaching people how do marketing on social media to make money and to profit.” By saying that, I’m also letting people know that I teach people how to use social media profit.

So go ahead. Start sharing inside of social media links to your website or sales pages but be soft with it. Don’t do too much. Just a little bit.

Marketing On Social Media – Start Sharing Often

My next tip for you is to start sharing daily.

Online, we say “content is king.” What does that even mean? “Content is king.”

Content is things that we’re sharing. If you’re blogging, doing YouTube or whatever it is you’re doing, you need to be sharing, and you need to be often sharing.

Now, “how often” changes depending on what platform you’re using.

If we’re using YouTube, we want to be sharing maybe once a day, once a week or whatever feels right for us.

For using Twitter, share often. Share a lot throughout the day. You could do 100 tweets in a day, and that’s completely okay.

With Facebook, share 2 – 3 – 4 -5 times, somewhere in there but share often.

Marketing On Social Media – Master One Platform First

One of my next tips doesn’t just share often and try to be everywhere. A lot of people do think, “I’ve got to blanket the internet. I’ve got to be everywhere.”

What happens when we try to do this whole blanket thing is we spread ourselves thin, and we do too much, and when we try to do too much, we do too much but not enough.

What I mean by not enough is we’re not doing it right. We’re not being genuine and connecting with people.

Marketing on social media only works if you’re connecting with people and you’re social.

Be sure to find one or up to three platforms you love and start with one. Get used to it. Get to know it well.

Marketing On Social Media Platforms Such As Facebook

For me, when I first started, that was Facebook. I love Facebook. I use it all the time. Then I went over to Twitter and began to get to know it. Then I went over to LinkedIn.

At first, I just want you to master one place and start getting in there and be active.

Now, for me, my favorite place is Facebook but the stuff that I’ve learned from Facebook works everywhere.

So go ahead and click on the description and I’ve got a free course that teaches you how to use social media to crush it to grow and scale your business.

What I teach you will be about Facebook, but it works everywhere. I’ve tested it and what works inside of Facebook works over to Twitter and LinkedIn. You just tweak it a little bit for the platform, and you’re ready to go.
